Rules
1. RESPECT THE STAFF! That means me, and all the other moderators. Don’t insult us because we say something you don’t like. That goes for other members too. PLEASE no OOC fights! This is for fun, so keep it that way!
2. No OOC insults! This goes with respect. Remember, someone’s RP character isn’t always how they are in real life. Some people (me included) have a lot of fun playing an absolutely evil character. That doesn’t mean they are bad people in real life. Keep anything that happens IC (in character) out of OOC life! Vice versa too, by the way. If you’re best friends with someone OOC but your characters hate each other, keep it real!
3. Stay in character! If you make a character that’s very reclusive, don’t have him being friendly to everyone that goes by! Remember, I will be watching you!
4. Use proper grammar and spelling! No “u” and “r” and whatnot. PUNCTUATION IS A NECESSITY! I won’t penalize you if it happens on occasion, because nobody’s perfect. However, if I see a trend, I will be sending you a PM with a warning.
5. No spamming the boards. If you have something to say, use the OOC (out of character) board.
6. If you want to advertise a site of yours, DON’T advertise in the RP boards! There’s a special place for stuff like that, and I suggest you keep it there.
7. No excessive cursing. I’m not going to punish every single curse word used, and will probably use a few myself. However, if I see anyone using f*** for every other word in a sentence, you will be warned. If you fail to stop, I will suspend you from the site.
8. PLEASE keep up the good writing! It doesn’t do me any good if you write an awesome RP sample for the application, then start writing one liners for actual role play! Nobody has to write a novel, but I would appreciate 2 paragraphs minimum for each post.
9. Only one character per account. It’s confusing if you’re Role Playing for more than one character on the same account. Exceptions can be made, such as if your characters are twins who are always together, or your character has a child/little sibling who is always hanging around. But for characters that are totally different, use different accounts.
10. If in a thread you post an OOC, IT MUST BE ATTACHED TO A ROLEPLAY! I don't want to see 3 pages of a thread full of an OOC chat! The ONLY exception is if you're going to post soon (That means within a day!) and you want to reserve it. That means that the OOC message (Which will be something simple, like 'I'm claiming this!') will be replaced with a beautiful post. If you start doing this, I will delete your OOC post and send you a PM. It's not a horrible crime, it's just annoying.
11. This site will be rated PG-13, simply because there’s vampires killing people and drinking blood. Though I’m not fond of them, I will allow sexual role playing, if only because some people might not join if it’s not allowed. HOWEVER…if every single one of your posts is a sex scene, I’m going to give you a warning. Any threads that plan on leading to sex/might lead to it, put [M] or [X] in the thread title.
12. Right here will probably be the proof that you’ve read the rules…NO TWILIGHT CHARACTERS! I personally am not a fan of the books; but that actually has nothing to do with it. This site is based on the books by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (In the Forests of the Night, Demon in my View, Shattered Mirror, and Midnight Predator.) and the vampires in those books are just different. Much is similar, in that they are beautiful and seductive, but dangerous. However, their abilities are different, which will be explained in the vampire information. If this rule comes as a shock to you, I suggest you go read the information. Any Twilight characters will be rejected, because it means you did not read the rules. I’m not picky about just Twilight; other popular vampire characters (Anne Rice’s books, for example) are not allowed. All vampires will be on the same level.
13. Along with the above, no werewolves are allowed. There are shapeshifters in the Atwater-Rhodes books, but they aren’t as strong as the vampires.
14. No plagiarism! That means no using the artwork or words of someone else and pretending it’s your own. If you add a comment that the stuff comes from someone else and you have that someone’s permission, then go right ahead. Otherwise, use you own stuff!
15. Absolutely NO godmoding! That is basically making your character invincible. Nobody wants to role play with someone who can never get hurt, and who is perfect and never makes mistakes. It’s unrealistic, and it’s annoying as hell.
16. No powerplaying either! That’s when you take control of another character in your post. Please don’t do it! You don’t know how another character will react to you, and it’s annoying! For example, you can say your human moved to punch someone, but you can’t say that their fist hit the person’s jaw and broke it.. However, that also goes back to godmoding, and the one being attacked can’t always dodge and get out of the way. The only exception is if you ask the other character if you can powerplay for a bit. In which case, go right ahead.
17. Don’t role play until I accept your character! You are free to look around the site, but please don’t start posting until you are accepted.
18. YOU MUST BE ACTIVE! It’s no fun if you make a character, then never show up! Occasionally I will be doing activity checks, and any who are not active will have their accounts deleted! There will be a “Going Away” thread, where you can post if you’ll be leaving for any amount of time, so we know that you aren’t gone forever.
19. Keep signatures reasonable please! Some people have slower computers (and it is just the computer ^_^) so it takes a while for 10 foot long banners to load. I’m not going to put a definite size on it, but keep it reasonable! If you have trouble resizing it, PM me and I’ll be glad to help.
20. After all these oppressive rules, I would also like to say have fun! I’ve tried not to make too many dictator-ish rules, and hopefully I’ve given everyone enough freedom to have fun and make a unique character.
