Annelise had yet to find herself in a pet store, but she felt obliged to go in once she made up her mind. Yes, it was a very odd place to be, but the Vampiress had a falcon who she wanted to get something for. The whole situation was strange really, even in Annelise's own head, but she didn't care. As she strode in, her black snakeskin heals clicked lightly on the tile floor as she headed towards where the birds were kept.
Not that she was there to get a bird, but she always loved studying the little creatures. They were what had given her the idea to flee so many, many years ago. Their freedom gave her hope at her own, and here she was, over a half-millennium later, totally free. As she studied one bird, she smiled as he stopped and watched her just as intently. Annelise was tempted to purchase the little fellow, but there was no way she would want to care for him all the time.
Her falcon, on the other hand, was quite low-maintenance. Artemis was waiting somewhere outside, but Annelise was inside, buying him a few lovely rats for munching on. She knew that wasn't what they were for, but she could care less. It had been some time since she herself had gotten a gift for her dear friend and she thought he would like them. Other types of meat were good, but still living was always best.
Annelise walked over to where the rats and mice were and picked out three rats. She could hear the many heartbeats pounding in her ears and every coursing of blood through the millions of veins were rushing through her ears. No wonder I've never been in such a place, she thought. Human hearts and blood were different, and had an almost musical beat to them; these animals, though, all had differing sounds, making it a new experience for the Vampiress.
After she purchased the three creatures, Annelise walked out of the store and whistled sharply and quickly, waiting for Artemis to swoop down out of the sky. As she waited, though, she felt someone's presence and turned. It did not surprise her when she discovered who it was, but she had no desire to speak with him, so she allowed him to speak first.

The air of the city was just as intoxicating as ever with the vile humans making their ways about the garbage ridden streets they aimed to walk about unconcerned for the way of things. They desired change but had no will or intention to do anything about it. Was this condition they exposed themselves to worth it? Was the suffering wirth that. Yes, he remembered all too well what he desired most, Silver wanted to know pain to fully comprehend what it meant to be so fragile so vulnerable. Somewhere along the lines he'd lost that sensation. His humanity scraped along the border of some unseen edge. All the while the world spun around him all too swiftly.
Dark eyes absolved with a hunger, the need for more than just a simple touch or caressing feature. Rather Silver desired the thrill of disapointment of a hunt that failed. Though with skill and prowess came less and less formidale companions and even more so less equal minded foes. They all seemed so brutally minded, faced with the opportunities assosiated with the flesh. When all the while the mind perservered over all else.
Rose was quite centered in his view all too comfortable by her security of a hidden mind. Silver was intending to break such formidable walls. He ascended from a simple street ally. An odd sight to behold, one of noble birth and lineage to ascend from the hole of commoners. He didn't fit the physicality and drew several eyes. Humans he knew were always drawn to such spectacles.
"Ma belle, Rose was it? It seems as though the night compliments you so well, the day grows weary and jealous of your relationship with it that she must take you..." Silver encited a bit of poetry in his words as he grazed gently across her flank.

Just as Silver spoke, a beautiful golden-brown falcon dove swiftly and landed on Annelise's (or Rose's, in this case) arm. The claws would have pained a human greatly, but Annelise had gotten used to the pain over time and didn't mind the small cuts the falcon's sharp claws created on her arm; they would heal quickly. But she was sure that the smell of her blood would intoxicate Silver. Ah well, he would have to do without.
"Yes, you may call me Rose," Annelise said slyly, still not giving away her real name. She turned to Silver, ignoring the bird on her forearm. Silver's eyes studying her body annoyed Annelise a little, but she ignored it and turned to the falcon who took a few strands of her hair and tugged it lightly, demanding her attention, as well as one of the rats she had purchased for him. Turning her attention to the bird, Annelise ignored Silver as she pulled a rat out of the box and held it before Artemis. With a satisfied squawk, the falcon snatched the rat in one of its talons, pushed off Annelise's arm, and flew back to the top of the store.
Glancing back at Silver, Annelise turned so she was better facing him. As she did, she looked back at her arm and watched the pricks of blood drip down and she absentmindedly swiped a finger across it and licked her finger. Not as sweet as anothers blood would be, but Annelise couldn't help it. "What are you doing at a pet shop, Silver?" she inquired. Annelise wondered if Silver suspected her name to not be Rose as she'd told him, but she didn't really mind. In fact, it was much more fun that way.

His nose perked up at the inclination to her blood. A satisfied look appeared on his face without thinking. Such a frail creature she was already suffering to the effects of a small beast. His dark eyes traced the creature, golden brown, miraculous. His musing was only interrupted by Rose's sudden interest to her own name which left him suspiscious. Was there something amidst? Did it truly matter? A name was a name and whether or not you could not trust a soul for what little soul these creatures had.
Her motions seemed flawless though any of their kind's would hers seemed to be at an ascended level. It tourtured Silver insanely as he watched almost longingly. Not for the sort of grace she possesed but to have the woman chained up and powerless at his feet. Yes the sort of sick power any man of his ambition would long for. He shot her a sinister grin implying what he'd been thinking to the surface.
"Pet shop? What makes you think I was coming here in particular? My dear, I was merely grazing about this place." He paused coyly as his body paced about her's almost like an animal cicrling it's meal. "Searching for the next chance at a fine game." He said smoothly revealing deadly yet beautiful set of teeth.

The fellow vampire's words caused Annelise to scowl. So long had she fought the darkness Silver had succumbed to that she could not help but despise him for considering even one as herself as "game." He knew not what was hidden behind the blocks of her mind, but he knew she was strong enough to deny even his entrance. This alone kept her satisfied, even as her dark eyes seemed to grow darker.
"If you insinuate that I am your game, then you are quite wrong, sir," Annelise said, her voice hard and cold. The change from just moments ago was large, for seeing her falcon always softened her heart but speaking with Silver angered her quickly. "Your selfish ways bore me."
It was tempting to leave right at that moment. Instead, Annelise whistled again and pulled another rat out of its box and held it high in the air. At just the right moment, she tossed it up for Artemis to catch and the bird flew away once more. I wish I were a bird... only dealing with the air currents and never with power-hungry, arrogant people such as this, the vampiress thought with a small sigh. Her look had softened momentarily as she thought, but gone back to its icy glare once she remembered who was with her, who was staring at her as if she were a piece of meat for a starving wolf.

He corked a brow quite pleased at the anguish he was causing her. He didn't need to be a mind reader to see how her body reacted towards his words. It was such fun to cause harm simply by ones position as opposed to words or even bodily damage. So much more rewarding. Silver mocked with a hearty grin watching her glare towards the falcon. A smooth softness to it that reminded him of a long lost memory several ages past. A wife a lover lost. IT hurt him and he hated the pain. He showered his own moment of weakness but due to her state he would be able to conceal it swiftly without too much concern.
"Selfish? No you don't understand the word, arrogance would be you encrouching upon my private room on the dance floor." Silver gave into the angered relapse.
"You're just as selfish as I mi bella." Silver was the wolf but he was also the cold. Where one suspected mortality, they were wrong he was far more capable than that.

For a moment, Annelise thought she sensed something different about Silver. The moment passed so quickly, though, that she didn't think much of it and brushed it aside as naught. "My entrance to your dance floor was merely chance," the vampiress spat back at Silver, her black eyes seemingly growing darker than they already were. It was mostly true and her mind opened in that moment of fury, almost to prove that she was telling that truth. But she closed it off quickly, hating herself for even a second of such weakness.
The other reason had been curiosity; she had wondered if Silver would be there. Also, she wondered if it was as people whispered: Silver, the ruthless and spiteful, but also handsome and powerful. It was all true, but his looks were lost to Annelise as she saw more and more of him. There was no heart in there, probably had not been even in life.
So much like that husband of so long ago... she had known what a relationship was many, many years ago. There was no happiness then, nor had there ever been happiness for her in life. Instead, it was brutal beatings and scolding words. This was all Silver was filled with, and she hated him more for it by reminding her of the life she had left behind so long ago. "I am not selfish. I had no want for gain when I visited the club." Her words were quieter, but still filled with passionate anger.
Annelise was so busy thinking about her past that she wasn't thinking about who was standing before her.Her expression had changed slightly, and it was almost as if she were reliving the past. She saw Silver momentarily as the man she had been forced to marry. She remembered his handsome face as it grew colder and colder as the days dragged on... and she saw the hatred in Silver's eyes that had dwelled in her husband's. And she was furious, though for reasons she was sure Silver was incapable of understanding.

Silver's tense features grew to secretly enjoy the position she was in. Though where she hid all this passionate anger and emotions was lost to him entirely he could only hope that his advances created the feeling of seething hatred within her. He wanted the pain from his lost past to vanish much like his humanity. Even in his human life he had little worry over the actions he'd done unto other people he didn't care for their neglegent ways in essence they were weak futile beings that didn't matter. He was cold.
Dark eyes showed that very coldness within him as he stalked closer to her. His breath cold and sharp with the scent of evergreen as he would seek to speak down to her once more. The words froze in his throat from the very ice he was thinking, from the very ice he'd become. His mouth sealed, lips hovering close over her shoulder never touching but entrancing as his breathlingered there.
"You are quite a good liar... but still it matters not." He sneered in a low hum before turning away from her.
The flank of his back forced itself to show a rather insuling cold shoulder. The game had gotten too serious and he needed a break if she was to seek after him he may resort to other means to begone but that would come with his own consequences uto his cool demeanor.

Annelise felt her anger seething within her even as her eyes came back into focus. As Silver whispered in her ear, the vampiress took a quick step back so he wasn't quite so close. "I can be the best liar in the world and you may think you're the darkest person to ever have lived... but I have known some who are even worse than the likes of you," she said, her voice distant and cold, hating him down to his core.
Feeling the darkness within herself grow, Annelise took another step back. Her eyes also seemed to darken (which seemed impossible, since they were black today), and it took everything within her will to think of what she must look like. A face filled with fury, eyes darker than the blackest night. With another act of determination stronger than she thought she had, Annelise willed her eyes to be the silvery color they were in life.
The silvery-gray color almost deepened her eyes, for the black was still so dark, but the silver was an amazingly stunning contrast. "I can guarantee you do not even have the will power to do something that does not benefit you right away. Tell me, what is the meaning of your being here? Coming to buy a pet?" She laughed aloud. "What would you even buy? A rat?" The picture of Silver leaving the pet shop with any animal made Annelise want to simply die with laughter, but she contained herself and calmed her face back to the coolness it had been before, even when it had burned with anger.

Silver chuckled darkly as his shoulder haunched over one another he was surly enjoying her reaction all too much to be fair. He turned with a sinister gaze enjoying her anguish the dark hatred seething in her. Though her dark eyes matched his own. It was the only part in the experience he wasn't too fond of.
"if I was at all here for a pet... It'd be you I'd be looking to lock up in my own little cage."
Silver sneered approaching her unafraid of the reprocussions. His gaze determinable seething past her eyes using this moment of anger to test her limits daring her to hit him. He smiled ear to ear assured of what her response would be. It was a dak twisted world he lie in. But it was his world, the one he understood.

That was the last straw for Annelise. She was so angry, she just wanted to explode. Without even realizing it, her eyes changed back to the black they had been for hundreds of years, simply out of the anger she was feeling. Again without an ounce of realization (for she was so drowned in her own rage that she didn't have much concentration until her walls had already slipped), Annelise's mind opened up enough for her thoughts to slip through for Silver to read.
But these thoughts probably weren't even what Silver expected her to be angry about. For instead of picturing Silver in her mind's eye, Annelise saw the Duke who had been her husband. His features were a bit sharper than Silver's, but his hair was just as dark, and his brown eyes might as well have been the black that Silver's were, for his heart was certainly the same black hole. That monster from long ago had said something similar about Annelise being his little "pet," locked up in a cage to be for his own use and pleasure. In that home, she may as well have been in a cage. And Silver was stating that she would be in a similar situation if it were up to him.
As those thoughts of the Duke (for she never used his name) streamed out of her mind, Annelise realized Silver would be able to easily hear them and her eyes opened in shock. Taking a step back, she made sure she was standing at her full height to ensure that she let none of her fear of her past show. There were so many things she had almost allowed to show, but she blocked off her mind again and stood there, glaring at Silver and waiting for a response before she would disappear and hope to never hear him again.
